Kyung Yano was born in Seoul, South Korea. She is the author of seven books (originally written in Korean), some of which were published in Japan, Taiwan, and mainland China. She was able to homeschool two highly gifted children. Her son, Sho, graduated from college at 12 and received his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology at age 18 and his M.D. at age 21 from the University of Chicago. Currently, he is in the resident program for pediatric neurology at the University of Chicago Hospitals. He is also an accomplished pianist and his performance was broadcast on classical radio station WFMT. Her daughter, Sayuri, graduated from Roosevelt University at the age of 13 and is currently studying violin performance at The Johns Hopkins University.
